Helpful Tips When Choosing A Dog Daycare For A Puppy

by Courtney Kennedy

There will be times when you can't always watch your new puppy. You may have to work or visit some family for the day. In this case, you'll want to look into dog daycare facilities. There are many to choose from, but you can be confident in your selection by using this advice.

Review Dog-to-Staff Ratio

When you drop your puppy off at a dog daycare facility, you want to know that they'll receive plenty of attention throughout the day. This often is predicated on the facility's dog-to-staff ratio. You need to analyze this ratio before making your selection. Keep in mind that the more staff there is to watch all of the dogs at the facility, the more attention your puppy probably will receive while you're away. You should be able to find out this ratio by checking out the dog daycare's website or touring the facility in person.

Look For Planned Activities

So that you feel confident in the dog daycare facility you choose, you need to assess the activities that are planned for the day. Activities are crucial in giving your puppy structure and something to look forward to as opposed to just sitting in a crate with food and water. There are a lot of planned activities you want the dog daycare to provide, such as regular exercise, play time, behavior training, and socialization with other puppies. These activities will give your puppy plenty of things to do, which is so important for their development.

Tour Facilities in Person

There are a lot of things you can learn about dog daycares through websites, but it's much more helpful to visit these facilities in person. Then you can look over important aspects that you need to know in order to make the right choice for your puppy's wellbeing. On each tour, there are several things to monitor. These include each facility's cleanliness, how the dogs are separated, the passion the staff have for the dogs, and the sort of amenities that are provided. After assessing these aspects, you should have a better idea of which dog daycare to go with.

Having a puppy is great, but you may not always be able to watch it day in and day out. That's okay because there are dog daycares available. You'll just want to research the available daycare options in your area and go with one that seems like the perfect match. Look for dog daycares in your area.
